Infiltration practices are generally considered to be nearly impossible in clay soils. This Case Study will review the installation of a new technology to increase infiltration and its effectiveness on solving a problem with standing water at a residential development. it will include information on the design of the system, the goals for the installation, the monitoring of the installation for over 18 months and determination of the stated goals were met.
Learning Objectives:
- learn that infiltration is possible, even in clay soil conditions where infiltration is typically considered infeasible.
- understand the general concepts behind the Parjana EGRP system and how it increases infiltration, even in clay soil conditions
- identify situations or projects where increased infiltration could be an effective solution to remove standing water, improve water quality and/or reduce stormwater runoff
